RETURNING IN APRIL 2013...
POLE BASICS WORKSHOP
Get ready! If you've never poled before then this is your chance to go through the motions in a fully outlined 8 session course! Addressing the Pole Basics in small, easy to access pieces will help reduce the physical challenge while increasing strength and flexibility. We offer small group classes, no sharing of poles, and plenty of instructor attention. You'll strut away from this workshop with descriptive handouts as reference so you can keep your dance fresh and ready to advance, plus private, online videos so you can review and assess your own dance moves. Dance experience a plus but certainly not required!
CLIMBS & INVERSIONS WORKSHOP
Round two!! If you've taken the Pole Basics Workshop and you're ready to advance, then this is the next step to monkey on up! In 8 sessions we will take the fundamentals learned in Pole Basics and build upward to get aerial! This class is full-on pole climbs and body inversions, so prepare for intense strength training and rapid evolution in your pole abilities. Upper body and core strength are highlighted in this course, along with proper alignment and technique to ensure your safety internally and externally. Like all of our workshops, this one is comprehensive, so plan on being present for each session. Private, online videos of our evolution will be available so you can review and assess your moves. You'll strut away from this workshop with dramatically increased strength and flexibility, and full confidence that you can enter the Intermediate Poleography classes without skipping a beat!

Pole dance, as taught by Samantha, is Modern and Jazz dance with a static partner; an exploration of center of gravity, stamina, form, control and movement, and the personal relationship between dancer and narrative. Every dancer will have a very different practice, different body, different expressions and goals. Are you just building strength with a new kind of cardio practice? Are you discovering a sensuality? Are you exploring different movements and overcoming fear of monkeying heights? All of this and more...
Classes are 1.5 hours long and we open with yogic warmup. Middling with 45 minutes of solid choreography, we'll sweat through endless repetitions of modern and jazz movements around our static dance partners while gently building on each phrase. Just when when you're exhausted we'll work on power moves, forcing the muscles into strength training.
One last song, start to finish, full choreography.
End with cool down.
Bring short shorts, towel, and plenty of water. We dance shoeless.
